About Dr. Zahir Hasan

Author of children's fantasy and works examining political science, law, and social issues.

Dr. Zahir Hasan writes across two distinct areas. On one side, he creates gentle, imaginative fantasy stories for children — the kind of books that leave a quiet glow long after the last page. On the other, he writes about power, sovereignty, conflict, and truth.

His children's series, The Whispering Realms and The Elk Kingdom Chronicles, are illustrated worlds of soft magic, listening, and quiet courage. His other books — including The Permanent Suspect, A Manufactured War, The Sovereignty of Truth, The Politics of Removal, and Japan's Strategic Awakening — explore questions of justice, narrative power, and strategic change.

Both sides of his work share a common thread: careful attention to how stories shape the way we see the world.

Two Kinds of Stories

The children's books are written for young readers who still notice the way light falls through leaves and who sometimes feel that the world is speaking — if only they could listen carefully enough. They are also written for the adults who read with them.

The political and social works ask harder questions about how power operates, how conflicts are framed, and who gets to define truth.

Both are offered here in the same place, under the same name.
